Great Read

Brown Paper Fine Tooth Comb

Brown Paper Fine Tooth Comb

Families are complicated, so can be friendships. Ask anyone: everyone has their stories. In A Brown Paper Bag and a Fine Tooth Comb, author Claudette Carrida Jeffrey has created authentically idiosyncratic characters navigating universal plots and subplots and it is this combination of the universal and the idiosyncratic that puts this novel in the highest echelon of classic literary fiction. Black or white, male or female, straight or gay, old or young, religious or agnostic, readers who care for others and truly believe in the social values of equality and inclusion are going to applaud this excellent, moving novel. Claire Soublet is an extremely smart, thoughtful girl who was taught to read at the age of three by a now dead aunt and has ambitions to get a college education and see the world. She is moved to anger by people who discriminate on the basis of race or gender. She is moved to compassion by people who are victims of discrimination or ignored when they need and deserve to be acknowledged and assisted. She is also moved to anger when she fears she is about to be abandoned and/or betrayed in some way. She's had a history that predisposes her to this defensiveness. And she begins to suspect the mysterious life histories of other people she meets, most importantly an old white woman who takes her in after her grandmother dies. The undeclared but deeply felt love that grows between Claire and the mysterious Sera is the focal point of the novel. Revolving around this important relationship over the years as Claire grows into, through and out of adolescence, we meet several young men who are enamored of her for various reasons, some good, some not so good. It is through her eyes that we see what women of that time were up against, what people of color in that region were up against, the kinds of expectations that restricted their dreams, their aspirations, their relationships. The best books take the reader to the time and place, when and where the story is set. Think Wuthering Heights, Yorkshire Moors in an earlier century. Brown Paper Bag definitely takes readers to the world of New Orleans in the forties and fifties. Readers who have been to New Orleans will recognize it. Readers who have never been there will feel like they have. This book does more than tell a story, it gives the gift of experience. It leaves us hopeful for Claire's future and eager for a sequel that will divulge the details of that future as well as Sera's intriguing past. Highly recommended!

The Happy Campers

Coleman 17 Foot 10 Foot 8 Person Modified

Coleman 17 Foot 10 Foot 8 Person Modified

Purchased this tent and the day I got it, wife and I did a practice run of putting the tent up in our back yard. Took less than 45 minutes the first time.

I sprayed the rain fly seams and tent seams with a can of "Kiwi Camp Dry, Heavy Duty Water Repellent 12 oz". We let it dry than rolled it back up and put it back in its bag.

Got it out two weeks ago for our 3 day camping trip. We went with a couple who purchased a big Ozark Trail tent from Walmart. They raved about how there Ozark Trail Tent was 50 dollars less then what we paid for but just as big as our tent....the first two days.

Day three around 5:30 in the morning we had rain for the first time...and when I say rain, I mean a torrential downpour for at least 90 minutes straight.

Needless to say the inside of our tent was dry as a bone. The Ozarks Trail Tent was leaking all over the place, they were soaked, and had an inch of water in the tent. I actually had to tip there tent up and help them pour the water out.

Needless to say, they were not so happy about saving 50 dollars on a junk tent.

Glad I made this purchase! My family was dry, and we had a great camping trip.

BTW, Second time my wife and I put tent up we had it up in about 10-15 minutes.

Great Tent.

House Hardings World Romance ebook

House Hardings World Romance ebook

Face it, laptop bags aren't exactly the most exciting thing on earth, but if you pack a laptop around, they are essential to protect your expensive piece of equipment. They aren't all created equally though!

I've had a number of laptop bags over the years, including the traditional black leather look, a backpack, and a messenger bag. The messenger bag was a huge favorite, it just seemed to work easier and take up less space when it wasn't in use. The Timbuk2 bag manages to take the messenger bag style up a step by adding some great features, such as the luggage pass through, the TSA speedy access, and great organization. It doesn't hurt that it is put into a package with some seriously sturdy fabric and weather protection either.

There really aren't any "cons" to this bag, other than the fact that it isn't the cheapest one on the market. About all I can say about that is that we tend to get what we pay for. I've had cheap bags, and they consistently have poor quality workmanship resulting in failure in seams or hardware. I have no worries about that with this bag--I think I'll see it outlive a number of laptops, actually.

The workmanship is top notch, the materials are the same high quality. If you are looking for a quality bag for commuting or traveling with your laptop and other electronic gadgets, this is the answer. It holds a lot and packs it with an eye to both quality and capacity. Sure it isn't going to rate as "trendy" and it won't hold your chihuahua, but it will hold what it's supposed to!

Life for Laura Warren is punctuated by the methodical: a radiographic technician, her work at a prestigious hospital on the Maine coast requires her to look at cancer every day, unearthing the answers to patients' most fearsome question and yet not being in a station to share what she knows. Keeping her thoughts to herself is something she's familiar with at home, too. Her husband, Dan, has become increasingly embittered by the loss of his job, effectively driving a wedge further into their already fractured relationship. The bright lights in Laura's life, her children, are living full lives of their own - creative, talented Ben away at college and savvy Sally in her final year of high school. Laura never really entertains escape, but when she finds herself at a weekend conference in Boston her world is turned upside down when she chances into conversation with another guest at the hotel. Richard has all the looks of a stuffy insurance salesman in his fifties, but no sooner have they engaged in a passing conversation when they realize they've both stumbled upon something profound, maybe even life-changing.

Douglas Kennedy's eleventh novel, Five Days, is a luxurious work that spins several unpleasant topics into a rich literary experience. It's a love story that explores both the rampant ecstasy and wrenching sadness with a scope so broad it will leave the reader rather breathless. As the title suggests, the story is divided into five days amid Laura's life, documenting the unhappiness of her every day, the tentative thrill of discovering something new, and the frightening elation at the prospect of changing her life for the better. Perhaps what I connected most with in the book was the difficulty - and triumph - in Laura's plight to recreate her life; Kennedy focuses the novel on her first-person narration, which allows the reader to become fully acquainted with this remarkable character. Initially, I felt that I couldn't quite relate with Laura, that her tone was rather depressing, but the beauty of Kennedy's work is in the power he maintains over his own writing. His timing is excellent. As Laura frees herself from the confines of her depressing life and embarks on a life-changing relationship with another man, she allows herself to open up to the reader, to drop her guard. But it was after what happened later - when changes she had never expected began to take shape - that I found her at her most empowering.

Kennedy's use of language is superb, and his detailing creates a beautiful, almost dreamlike literary world that's tinged ever slightly with melancholy. Richard and Laura are both pragmatic and romantic, two fascinatingly smart, well-read, engaged people. Their connect is so that Kennedy manages to set them more or less above every other character in the book - which, as they together share in their delight of obscure artistic references and an all-too-encompassing interest in synonyms - could make the reader feel either connected or slightly detached. Their intellect being the chief source of their chemistry, I found it fascinating to follow along and see the sparks ignite on the page. Overall, I found Five Days to be a thought-provoking look at the power of love to build up, destroy, and change our lives as we know it, and how we as humans deal with the magnitude of it.

250 Pick Up Lines ebook

250 Pick Up Lines ebook

This exceptionally well-made bag is a little taller than your average crossbody bag, and the shoulder strap is wider, with a bit longer drop. The extra height means I can fit in not only my wallet, keys, shades, phone and various small essentials, but I can also slide in my iPad Mini (and still zip the bag)! It's as if the bag were designed with an iPad Mini in mind.

The two front pockets are nice and deep, but I'm not sure what I'll use them for since anything other than a piece of paper will cause them to bulge. They're also not secure enough for anything as valuable as a smartphone. The back zipper pocket is nice and deep. I'm using that for my iPhone, headphones and a small, collapsible phone stand -- all of which fits with only the slightest bulge. Even when full, the bag keeps a flat-ish silhouette and sits fairly close to the body.

The leather is butter-soft, the stitching very secure, and the hardware nice and solid. The lining is thick satin, pale yellow with the Piazza logo in brown. Altogether well-designed and well-built!

CobraCo FRHORS369 Horse Campfire Ring

This lovely rustic fire ring is perfect for those wonderful summer evenings when you want to sit in front of a nice cozy fire and enjoy the feeling you get as the flames lull you into an almost hypnotic state of relaxation. At a little over 13 pounds, the CobraCo Horse Campfire ring can either be a nice permanent fixture in your yard or camp area, or it can be easily transported to the beach, campground, etc., so that you can set up a quick but safe ring in just minutes. No more concerns about rocks "exploding" or a piece of wood rolling out of the ring. Standing at about 9" tall and 36" in diameter, most wood will safely be contained with no problem.

The CobraCo FRHORS369 Horse Campfire Ring comes in 4 pieces with 12 bolts, 12 nuts (mine had 13 each) and 2 small wrenches. It goes together quickly and easily, and it's easy to break down. When broken down, it doesn't take much room to transport or store when not in use.

The only thing that would make this ring better would be some method to attach it to the ground.

Eighty Days---a great read!

Eighty Days Elizabeth Bislands History Making

Eighty Days Elizabeth Bislands History Making

On a recent discussion threat for a writer support group that I am a part of, one of the other women took the opportunity of marking Women's History Month by insisting in the most absolute and implacable terms that until American women had the national franchise extended to them in 1920, they were mere helpless chattels, powerless before the courts, economically completely dependent on their menfolk and invisible to society at large ... purest bull-hockey, I know, and I should have argued the point by referencing my copy of this book, which countered just about every claim she made about the condition of women in late 19th century America in telling of the epic round-the-world journeys of two female travelers over the winter of 1889. Both Nellie Bly and Elizabeth Bisland were about the same age; both earned a good living in the media hustings of the time, one was a hard-working and hard-charging Northerner, the other a genteel and cultivated Southern lady.

In the publicity stunt of the decade, they were sent by their respective publications to circumnavigate the world and beat the record of 80 days set by Jules Verne's fictional hero, Phineas Fogg. Theoretically, it was at least possible, given the mind-numbingly rapid advances which had been made in the decades following the Civil War. Once it had been the laborious business of six months to cross the United States from the Mississippi River - now it could be done in a week by train. The crossing of the Atlantic by ship now took a week in some comfort on a speedy packet steamer, rather than the six to eight weeks of misery that it had been under sail. Telegrams carried the news instantly. The world had become small - and now Joseph Pulitzer's World newspaper proposed a demonstration by sending his intrepid star female reporter around the world. The magazine Cosmopolitan proposed to make it a real race - and their star reporter Elizabeth Bisland went west by train, even as Nellie Bly caught the steamer east.

The race was on; it made a star of Nellie Bly for a time ... and this is a copiously detailed account of their separate headlong journeys. I personally favor lots of detail in accounts of this kind, although other reviewers have felt bogged down and eventually bored. I did not; and as a record of what it was like to travel the world in 1889 this book is like a five-pound box of mixed artisanal chocolates. There are splendid curiosities, interesting people, events and descriptions everywhere, noted as Miss Bisland and Miss Bly went hurtling past at full speed. Most definitely this book, which I had in advanced edition, needs maps, lots of them and in detail. I hope that the final version does include them.

Plus Seersucker Pants Drawstring Check

Overall this is a great, quality product. I've had several types of these covers over the years. The Hospitology cover is equal in qualty to ones for which I've paid 2-3x the price. I especially like that several felt/flanel self-sticking pads are included with the cover. Sharp metal edges on bed frames are the biggest killer of these products. Kudos for Hospitology for thinking of this an including a solution with their product.

I have also experienced excellent customer service with Hospitology. When I received my encasement, it had some yellow-orange stains on it. I immediately sent feedback to the seller and initiated a product exchange. The next day I received an email from the seller explaining that this was an unfortunate, but common side effect from flame retardant coating they use on their products, and it could be remedied with a run through the washer. Sure enough, one trip through the wash cycle and the encasement was pure white! The product comes with thorough washing/drying instructions, so if you wash it, make sure you follow them. To be safe, I let my cover air dry (prior experience with another brand).

a wonderful read

The Paris Wife A Novel

The Paris Wife A Novel

"The Paris Wife" is one of the best novels I've read in a long time. It's so evocative of time and place, of the hearts and minds of the characters, that I could scarcely put it down. I highly recommend it.

I read Hemingway in high school and college. I didn't enjoy or appreciate his work. I knew that World War I had a shattering effect on those who fought and survived, the so-called "Lost Generation." However, I didn't understand their intense live-for-today mindset, or their conviction that there was no point to anything in life except seizing the day. Only intense, adrenaline-inducing experiences, narcissism, artistic expression, and endless partying mattered. Today we would call Hemingway, and many of his mercurial friends, victims of Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder.

"The Paris Wife" takes you so thoroughly into Hemingway's life in the 1920s that it's not just a gripping story, but a revelation about the artist and the genesis of his work.

The narrator of the book, Hemingway's first wife, Hadley, struggles to understand and support him. She also desperately wants him want to be faithful, as she is - definitely not the norm in their fast-living crowd. She loves him, but doesn't understand his moods or his behavior; she finds them troubling, selfish, even cruel. She also must take her own journey of self-discovery and independence. And clearly, given his ultimate suicide, Hemingway struggled mightily with something very dark within himself that no one else could touch. As much as he sometimes regretted that darkness, he hoarded it within himself.

This is a wonderful novel, somehow both intimate and epic. Author Paula McLain takes us right into Hadley and Ernest's Roaring 20s world. It's a fascinating and heart-breaking place.

Breathtaking

Life After A Novel

Life After A Novel

"Life After Life" grabbed me right from the start and just didn't let go. Atkinson uses what sounds like a plot device from science fiction--a character who dies and is reborn repeatedly--but the book does not read like a science fiction/fantasy novel. The setting is an often used time in history with the bulk of the story set in WWII, but it's not exactly historical fiction either. There are elements of literary fiction too, but that alone can't describe it. "Life After Life" is an original that transcends genres to tell its own story, and its a great one. Atkinson manages to write Ursula's tale with all of the necessary repetitions in it without ever making it repetitious or letting the pace lag. The chapter lengths vary widely throughout. Sometimes Ursula's life is quite short, other times longer, and this creates a lively rhythm. The plot winds around in a Nautilus shell spiral, perfectly shaped and fascinating in its twists and turns. I particularly enjoyed when Ursula began having deja vu like memories from previous lives and began reacting sharply to seemingly innocuous events that lead to her death in previous lives. The most delightful thing about the book for me was trying to see how she origamied all the events and patterns in Ursula's lives to form the whole of the story. This is the best book I have read this year, and I cannot recommend it highly enough. Kate Atkinson can apparently do anything as a writer, and I plan to keep reading her. Thanks to the publisher for my advance copy, the gushing is all my own.

Amazing Read!

Stormy Surrender New Hope ebook

Stormy Surrender New Hope ebook

I was so excited to start reading this book. I adore Nicole and her writing... Her last book was so good, so I was ready to dive into another great story...

When I first started reading Stormy I wasn't hooked, in fact I think I might have wanted to throw my reader a few times. I couldn't stand the husband and at first I didn't even like Marti. I couldn't believe that she didn't go off the deep end after what he did to her in the beginning. But as the book moved forward and I got to know Marti a little better I found that I truly liked her. It wasn't that she wasn't a strong woman, and once she started to show her emotions and get angry her true nature finally showed through... Her husband really took the cake when it came to being... well I cannot say the string of profanity I feel about him... Let's just say if he were real I think I'd hunt him down for her... ugh!

So after Marti takes off for New Hope we really start to see the woman that she is and who she is meant to be. She is fun and even slightly sassy and she knows how to dish it out especially when it comes to Joe. I wasn't a fan of his either it took some time to get into his character. After he gives her a small gift and takes her to help her mind clear I was smitten with him... Even though the people in town seemed to think otherwise he was good for her and there when she needed a friend and someone to help pull her through the bad moments.

I loved seeing it slowly build from a friendship into more... Joe was sweet and funny... He made me laugh at his antics at times and others I wanted to smack him upside the head... Marti was caring and loving and everything that Joe needed to help him realize that was ok to let go of the past and be real with someone again. They together made what I thought was a great couple... Two broken souls mending each other in ways neither expected... Until the unexpected ending... I feel that there are some rocky times ahead and I'm not sure where this story will go next but I can only hope that in the end Marti and Joe both find happiness they both truly deserve it...

Nicole's writing gets better with every book.. Sugar Daddy was my first read and I loved it... Hiding Out was even better yet and as Nicole will tell you I am smitten with a certain character from that book... Can't wait for the next in that series either... Every books seems to add more character depth and detail and attention to the story. It's nice to see an author grow better with every book that they release. I highly recommend all of her books, they are all excellent reads!!!!

I proudly give this one 5 stars and I can't wait for more story on Marti and see where her journey leads next...

Arm Hammer Carpet Fresh Eliminator

Arm Hammer Carpet Fresh Eliminator

Minty mojitos, sweet pomegranate, warm apple pie, freshly baked chocolate chip cookies, sweet vanilla.

Dogs don't smell like any of the above, especially my beagle.

Weekly baths help de-funkify my beloved pet, but homes with a dog need Arm and Hammer Carpet and Room Pet Fresh Odor Eliminator. I like to sprinkle it all over my carpeting, leave it for a day then vacuum it up. It may cause a few sneezes but that's to be expected. The outcome is a home that smells as fresh as a field of flowers on a warm spring day, and I often picture myself running barefoot through the field. Sometimes I just run barefoot all over my apartment yelling 'Weeeee!' because it's so fresh, but then I trip, bash my face into a wall and end up in the emergency room with a broken nose.

So heed my advice and buy this rug powder. But don't run into walls out of excitement; no carpet freshener is worth a broken nose.

It is fabulous to finally hear from Amanda. After all the other books, tabloids, movies, and websites had their say about Amanda Knox, it is good to finally hear from her (and shocking that some people think she shouldn't write her own book after all that has been said about her). It is clear that she is a warm, articulate, smart, down-to-earth person. It has been clear to me from the beginning that she is 100% innocent. For all those wondering why she would enter the apartment with the door ajar and blood speckles in the bathroom, it would be even more inexplicable for her to enter the apartment if she had actually committed the murder (why would she come back 12 hours later - she would have fled)! If she was the murderer, why in the world would she call Meredith's phone (which led to it being found). I could go on and on, but this isn't the place for that. This is one of the most horrendous stories about justice gone wrong - to be imprisoned is bad enough, add the financial burden, but mostly the media storm that still goes on to this day. Ironic that Amanda has been convicted of slander when she has been slandered more than anyone else I can think of, by the media, other books, etc.

This is also a great story of love from her family and all that they did. Amanda speaks openly about very personal matters. She is apologetic for some of her actions but she just never did anything wrong at all. The police and prosecution and media turned everything she did into something deviant. While I had a great grasp of the facts of the case for the past many years, this certainly has given me a much better sense of Amanda, the person. Her personality, thoughts, emotions all come alive on the pages.

I would hope that larger issues like corrupt prosecutors (here in the U.S. too) refusing to admit errors, false journalism, hate spewed from websites will be addressed after this tragedy though I doubt it will. Seems odd to me that cyberbullying and teenage suicide is taken so seriously, yet people have been cyberbullying Amanda and her family for years. Very sad and tragic. I wish Amanda and her family the very best. And her parents should win Parents of the Year award.

No one is more surprised than Quinn by what he has returned to and as the oldest he knows the responsibility sitting on his shoulders to guides his brothers and sisters. Quinn is a successful oncologist who built a life away from where he grew up but now wonders is that place he lives really as warm and inviting as Sweetland. Then Quinn meets Nikki Brockington the one person ready to fill in for his grandmother's managerial duties who also has the ability to make him realize it may be time to let his heart love again.

Nikki it turns out is a woman with a serious unrequited crush for Quinn but nothing would prevent her from keeping business away from pleasure, or so she tells herself.

All it turns out is not a quiet and serene at the B, B as the siblings thought, and though no one planned to stay. But when the perceived serenity turns out to be non-existent everyone is prepared to stay until there is resolution to the problem. As Quinn and Nikki try to get to the crux of the problem working closely takes on a new meaning. Quinn finds Nikki's sense of humor, ability to get the job done without breaking a sweat, and when she stops talking she does listen to his thoughts. Quinn finds these character traits more attractive than he ever thought possible and may now over rule his obsession to her great butt.

Bravura Account of Quirky Love. Lawrence is Jaw-Dropping.

Silver Linings Playbook

Silver Linings Playbook

The film centers around Patrick (Bradley Cooper), a bipolar person, who has issues. He goes into a berserk mode whenever he hears "My Cherie Amour" like Curly used to do when they played "Pop Goes the Weasel." Of course bipolar people should be introduced to other bipolar people, because you never sleep with anyone crazier than yourself.

Patrick is introduced to Tiffany (Jennifer Lawrence) who steals every scene with an Oscar worthy performance. Robert De Niro plays Patrick's father, a superstitious Eagles fan, who appears to be slightly bipolar himself. While institutionalized, Patrick learned to look for "the silver lining" in everything in order to cope with life, something he doesn't always do too well. Tiffany has her own issues and together they haphazardly work their way into a relationship.

They should film more movies in Philadelphia as I have never seen the streets so clean. It is a heart warming, fun drama/romance with an indie flavor. Worth a view, but not necessarily on the big screen.

Parental Guidance: F-bombs, no sex, brief nudity.

A bit of good!

A Bit of Bite ebook

A Bit of Bite ebook

There's nothing more enjoyable than reading a fast-paced book that is well written and has great characters. This was a short novella about Ava, a deputy sheriff in rural Louisiana, bent on protecting the humans from the supernatural forces in her county. Problem is, she's already fallen for the super-hot Alpha of the local werewolf pack, Julian, and she tries to fight that throughout the story.

I am hoping this is a smaller bit of a story to a larger, more drawn out story or series of books because these characters are fabulous and I really want to read more about them. If not, I'll be reading more of this author's work because she has a way or writing that makes it easy for the reader to get lost in without having to trip over big, unnecessary words or annoying typos.

5 Stars!

OMG I loved it! I have been looking forward to reading Sealed with a Curse ever since I read Cecy Robson Novella The Weird Girls. I enjoyed her written so much. From the moment I opened the book I was drawn into her world and could not put it down. So much action, adventure, and romance blooming.

I enjoy each of the Wird sisters. They all have unique abilities and personalities that add to the story. I just loved Celia in this book. Her funny reportorial kept me laughing thought the book, she is strong, and lonely, but does not let that loneliness stop her from doing what must be done.
Being introduced to the the hunky wolf Aric was great. I loved the connection you see growing between Celia and Aric as well as the other sisters getting set up with their hunky wolfs.

This story has everything a paranormal romance book should have; lots of action, the sisters, love, flirts, smoking hot men and your favorite paranormal beings but most important a lot of fun!

OMFG!!!!!! Is you are a fan of Sons of Anarchy (which I DEFINITELY am!) then you are going to love, love, love the final book in the Dream Man Series!

I was stoked to find out that Tack was finally getting his own story and this one did not disappoint! After an unbelievable night with the president of Chaos MC Tyra finds herself being kicked out of his bed, and the dismissal really stings. Not only did she this Tack was her dream man, it turns out he's also her boss.

Ms. Ashley wrote Tack to be a serious biker bad ass and all I can say is that I'd be willing to be his Old Lady any day. We get to see Tack's sweet side with Tyra and his kids... His bad ass side with his club and his ex-wife from hell... and his fire breathing dragon side with the Russian Mob.

There is nothing lacking in this story. Suspence, blood, romance, and set-the-sheets-on-fire sex makes Motorcycle Man not only my absolute favorite of the Dream Man Series, but also a total win for any woman who's ever had a bad boy biker fantasy. And I don't know a woman alive who hasn't had that.

A Woman After My Own Heart

Devils Grin Kronberg Crimes ebook

Devils Grin Kronberg Crimes ebook

I already owned a few silk pillowcases (from the "Feeling Pampered" company, purchased from Amazon)-they were reasonably priced and I've loved them so far- so I was already aware that silk pillowcases are awesome. I didn't try purchasing a Spasilk pillowcase until recently because the only color they had available for a long time was just the white one, which I thought was boring. However, once I saw that they'd added a bunch of pretty colors, I figured I'd try this brand out. I already own/use the Spasilk silk washcloths (which are amazing, BTW!), so I was pretty sure the pillowcase would be good as well. Well, I must say, this pillowcase beats the silk pillowcases I purchased from the other brand, in spades! Not only was it a little cheaper (which is always nice!), but the fabric itself is WAAAAYYYY softer and smoother, with sort of a satin-like shininess to it. The material is also a little thicker, with a little more weight to it (my other silk pillowcases are a bit on the thin, flimsy side), which I personally prefer. I purchased the Aqua color and let me tell you, it is the most beautiful shade of blue ever, a lovely pale, soothing shade of Aqua. I've already washed it once (I machine washed in warm water using Woolite and hung it up to dry) and it came out looking good as new and feeling just as smooth and silky as ever. I wish I hadn't purchased the 3 other silk pillowcases from the other company, because these are FAR superior in just about every way possible. I will definitely be purchasing more of the Spasilk cases if/when I need another one (in fact I'm purchasing another one now because they're awesome, and my other flimsy silk cases feel like they're on the verge of crapping out on me, which sucks because I haven't had them that long). SOOOO happy with my purchase, highly highly recommend this pillowcase to anyone looking for a beautiful and affordable silk pillowcase!

Revenge Not So Pretty Girl Carolita Blythe

Revenge Not So Pretty Girl Carolita Blythe

I was totally captivated reading this riveting international thriller. I was bounced back and forth from the beer gardens and streets of Munich to the deserts of Saudi Arabia. This story kept me totally involved from beginning to end and all points in between.

B.J. is a happily married man, a career in the advertising business and content with his life. He starts to have dreams about a woman named Dabbie who is a stranger to him and as the dreams progress and continue he discovers that he is the man in the dreams with her. When the dreams turn into nightmares they begin to threaten not only his marriage but his sanity and stability as well. Ultimately, as the dreams overpower him, he sets out for Munich to confront his demons head-on. What happens from that point on is an engagingly powerful set of circumstances that will keep you on the edge.

Stan has just arrived in Saudi Arabia to start a new job and to make a new start with his wife. When his wife does not arrive as planned and there is no sign of her very existence his life is turned upside down as he is thrown into and experiences a nightmare of his own.

The characters are extremely well developed and believable. Their frustrations, fears and panic as they set about on their separate journeys will grab you, fill you with compassion and haunt you as the story unfolds.

I highly recommend this book to all readers who like to be totally captivated and swept away.

Angels, Demons, Zombies and the end of the world all rolled into one......

Revelation A Novel Seven Signs

Revelation A Novel Seven Signs

I'm going today that this book uses the "F" word in the most hilarious way EVER!!! Hahaha I like to lost it reading that! I was laughing so hard I snorted! Multiple times! Hehehe I'm still giggling! And yes it's about Angels... But they are bad, but oh so good let me explain that sentence- they are bad enough that they don't live in heaven but not bad enough to lose their good graces or wings. Wings are hot! And I fanatically love the names! And I'm so glad I don't live in their world cuz they scare me!

Lune is the angel here and he's on a mission for himself. Something's gone wrong. His brother is missing, people are dying, things are getting suspicious and no one seems to know what's going on. He's definitely got the alpha male thing going for him and he's not the quiet type, he is actually full of sarcastic remarks and an earful of crazy LOL! And he is willing to do anything to find out what happened to his brother and why all these apocalyptic things are happening! He's definitely a HAWT piece!

Dr Sterling is your Dr who's a medical examiner and is bent on finding a way to end this crazy virus spreading around killing people... Until she opens a body bag that's exploding with feathers hahahaha I can't go further into that because of spoilers but it's pretty funny! She's got some trust issues and some no nonsense with makes but Lune is gunna give her a run for her money! She's an Indepentent woman and she's worked very hard to get where she is and trust me with her past it was hard work. I loved her reaction and relationship with Lune. It seems like it took Eons for them to finally get "their moment"!

This story is NOT your average angel story. Some of these angels take their earth leave to an extreme and their actions are just nuts... Makes you wonder who the good guys are sometimes. And the secondary characters are not lacking, as Dash is awesome! The writing is so unlike any other you can't really compare it. It's full of action and intense suspense and humor and sometimes gore and kinky things. Just read it!! It's not like those cute little kid angels that statues are made from! You're in for a crazy wild ride! 4.5 CRAZY SCARY ANGELIC PAWS!! I can't wait to jump into book two now!

Love this set!

Diane Von Furstenberg Luggage Signature

Diane Von Furstenberg Luggage Signature

The luggage set is beautiful.3 pieces 28",24", and 20" bags. They are hardside on the edges and softside but still firm and protective where you see the lighter brown in the picture.Pretty light weight.only 26 pounds for the 3 bags together. They do look just like the picture. The inside is lined with pink.Cargo net on one side that zips and straps on the other side.I couldn't figure out why the pink but as I type this I realize when a woman goes on vacation and she opens her luggage she probably wants to see something pretty and not just dark brown surrounding her nice clothes.2 carry handles;top and side;very well made.Telescoping handles on each piece that are the correct legnth based on the size of the piece.Meaning, the carry-on isn't shorter just because it's smaller and the 28" doesn't have this extra long handle just because it's bigger.4 spinner wheels on each piece.Well made wheels.I was pretty particular about how the wheels were made and attached because I had a "bad wheeled" piece of luggage a long time ago and it was hell to use.Gold DVF plate on the front of each, leather tag holder on the back of each, front inside top pocket also has a tag holder since you're supposed to put your name and address inside each bag.DVF tag of authenticity sewn inside each piece with the hologram logo. The zipper going around the bag has a place to use TSA locks but the 2 front pockets have no way to lock. They both close on the same side so I guess I could use a TSA cable lock if I really needed.I got a Dasein croco brown purse/tote to go with the carry-on.It's here on Amazon too.Looks really sharp together.Oh,each piece had it's own sales tag and DVF sales tags,as well as,the 10 year warranty tag. Each piece sold seperately at manufacturers suggested price was $380,340,300 respective to size.I think this was pretty good deal and free shipping for $160.I could have gone to another website for same price but I trust Amazon because I buy a lot here.

Belgian Cobblestone Mold

Belgian Cobblestone Mold

I'm a 33 year old petite woman (5 feet tall, 125 lbs). I saw this on HSN and decided to buy it since I love doing things myself especially if it will save me a buck. This turned out to be easy but only after some trial and error (my first few look like crap). First and foremost, the hardest thing about using these molds is dealing with the concrete. I used 1 -60lb bag of QUICKRETE per mold. Initially I was mixing by hand which was extremely exhausting. My neighbor let me borrow his drill and concrete mixer extension (drill $40 and extension $15) which made the job go a whole lot easier and faster. Definitely worthy of the $55 investment if you don't have one already or one you can borrow. It was taking me 35-45 minutes per mold before using the drill. Another thing, the Quickrete bag says to use half a gallon of water. I found that this was not enough. It should look like thick oatmeal when you are done mixing. This equated to 12 cups of water for me. Another important step which made it very difficult for me to remove the mold at first: MAKE SURE THE MOLD IS RIGHT SIDE UP. I know this may sound stupid and believe me I felt stupid after I realized my mistake but I was so excited to start I just dropped the thing and started filling it with concrete not realizing that it would make a difference. If the mold is not the correct way up it will be very difficult to remove the mold and your bricks will get stuck and crumble as you try to force the thing out. It takes about 4-5 minutes to mix the quickrete when using a drill and about 2-3 minutes to fill the mold and smooth out the top using a trowel (get one that is wide and smooth on all sides). Let it set in the mold for about 1-2 minutes and use the tabs on each side of the mold to lift it up. So a total of about 10 minutes (tops) per mold. Another tip I learned is to tap the sides of the mold to release the bubbles in the concrete and smooth again. Also, if you don't have a wheel barrel, use one of those big totes they sell at Walmart or something rectangular in shape. It's hard to maneuver the concrete in those 5 gallon buckets as I also learned the hard way. Lastly remember to cure the concrete by wetting it for a few days after its done. Its important to mention also that the bricks are removable and can be placed however you want. You need to use sand to fill in the gaps and make them more compact. I stretched my job out over a couple of days but thats because I started about 5-6 the hard way and it was taking me too long to finish each one. The whole project (25 molds) should have only taken me about 4 hrs start to finish. The finished project is beautiful and looks professionally done.

No words can express how much I loved this book

Unbeautifully Loved Breathe Again ebook

Unbeautifully Loved Breathe Again ebook

I bought this insert to toe around my Olympus XZ-1 camera and accessories during a recent family trip. I already had a bag to carry my personal stuff around, and I wanted to use that bag. This insert fit in there perfectly (you will need to measure your existing bag to ensure it fits), and it even helped square the bottom of the bag so that it would stand up without falling over.

As it was intended, it protected my gear on many roller coaster rides, etc., and it was easy to deal with. The top comes off the bag, if your own bag already has a flap, decreasing the time required to get to your gear. I recommend this product if you already have a bag you like and want something to cart camera gear in it. Will not fit a DSLR, but it also was able to fit my Olympus OM-D when I was in a bind, although it is really too small for the OM-D with the 12-50 mm lens.

Ju Ju Be HoboBe Diaper Blush Frosting

Ju Ju Be HoboBe Diaper Blush Frosting

I'm an avid Ju Ju Be lover and have owned many of their other bags.

As my kids have gotten older however, I've had problems with bags either being too big or too small. This bag is absolutely perfect for all my needs. It holds quite a bit more than you'd expect on the inside of the bag. There are plenty of pockets on the inside of the bag to keep everything organized and the mommy pocket on the outside is perfect. I also love that they added the felt lined pocket like on the BFF. It's a great pocket for anything that could be scratched or anything you want to have super easy access to.

The back pocket for the changing pad is nice, but I use it for other things and love having a pocket I can easily shove paper in or what have you and then it still has a button closer, which is nice.

Overall, I'm very happy with this bag. I'm an overpacker and yet still have plenty of room to carry what I need and then some. And even then some more. As a Mom with a 4 year old and a 2 year old, this bag works perfectly for us.

Crescendo

Crescendo Steven Walela Thriller ebook

Crescendo Steven Walela Thriller ebook

When you are trying to do the right thing there is sometimes no time to second-guess yourself, even if your actions might put you at odds with the one you love. In CRESCENDO by Deborah J. Ledford we are able to see Inola Walela not just take charge but take control of a situation that seems to be going horribly wrong. When her judgment is being questioned and a child is missing, she has to make a decision to go forth with her instincts or think about how her actions are seen by her fiance/Sheriff Steven Hawk.

Though it pains her to do, the reader take the sometimes difficult journey with Walela to find the truth and in the process risk it all to protect an innocent child. In this one book Ledford shows you why critics and readers have fallen in love with her ability to tell a story and keep your attention from beginning to end. There are moments you are struck by the lessons being shared and other moments when you can't help but ask what you would do if in a certain situation. This to me is the sign of a skillful storyteller, and that is what makes this a read that mystery lovers as well as readers of any genre will devour from Chapter one.

Fast-paced yet thought-provoking, with CRESCENDO Ledford ends her series on a literary high note.

Another Destiny keepsake

Half Moon Hill Destiny ebook

Half Moon Hill Destiny ebook

Toni Blake has worked her magic again! I do think Anna and Duke might just be my favorite couple of the series followed closely by Tessa and Lucky. The pairing of Anna and Duke is a bit of an odd couple but Blake makes their romance work so very well!

Anna Romo has come home to a place she barely remembers. After having been gone from Destiny for many years, Anna is home to stay. We see how Anna is working to fit in but still holding back, not quite sure of her place in the Romo family. I liked how Anna was aware of her insecurities and her torn loyalties. There is also her need to not completely submerge herself in the small town but test the waters and ease herself into life in Destiny. It shows Anna's intelligence and maturity. I love reading about an intelligent heroine!

Duke is a hero with a bad-boy exterior and a heart of gold. At first glance, he's not someone you'd want to meet in a dark alley but once Anna, and the readers, get to know him, it's obvious he's a gentle and loving man with a little edginess that making his softer side that much more special. Duke is a realistic hero in that he doesn't try to be someone he's not but learns to like who he really is. He's certainly a favorite of mine!

With Anna and Duke living a fairly secluded life away from town, they are allowed to get to know each other with little interference from family and friends. Which is good since Mike Romo, Anna very overprotective brother, can be a real hardass. Anna and Duke don't completely forget about the people they care about but they have those uninterrupted moments, giving them time to get to know each other beyond what everyone else sees.

Blake's humor is certainly present not only in the romance but also in the friendships featured in the story. I loved catching up with previous couples. We see that life isn't always a perfect storybook romance instead it can be messy, frustrating and ultimately filled with ups and downs. But it's how you handle both the ups and downs that show the real person.

Anna and Duke's romance tests not only what they know of each other but what they know of themselves. This last book of the series certainly ended on a high note! I look forward to heading south to Coral Cove, Florida for Ms. Blake's next series slated for a spring 2014 publication.

Oh Yeah Baby...

The Single Lady Series ebook

The Single Lady Series ebook

I absolutely loved this book by Tara Brown. She has a writing style that completely draws you into the story until you are left wanting more. I cannot wait for The End of Games to come out!

The story is about a newly widowed woman named Evie. She has just been devastated by the death of her husband. The grief of that does not last long after she finds out he has deceived her many times and in multiple ways. Now in the time that she should be grieving for her husband, Evie is worrying about the safety of herself and her children.

Faced to make decisions that she hasn't in a long time Evie is thrown back into her past. She is forced to recall all the training she has had as a military CI in order to ensure the safety of her children, mother, and sister. A young, handsome, and arrogant CI named Coop is chosen to bring her back into the life she left behind in order to become a mother. He is insulting, irratating, and yet there is still a sexy air that surrounds him.

Evie does the best with what she has been given in this new life. She is thrust into the arms of a suspected terrorist and arms dealer, made to do the unthinkable, and all the while expected to preform flawlessly. What she doesn't expect to happen is the feelings that begin to develop for the oh so sexy arms dealer.

This book is full of adventure and hot situations that can't help but to make you blush as you are reading. The End of Me is a fantastic new read from Tara Brown!
